"The scene in the tea room where they see each other for the first time in six years, that was incredibly difficult. Also the scene where we lambast 'middle' Briony and we really give her a tailing. That was quite difficult actually because we could have gone further, or I could have gone further, but you don't want to take up all the emotional space. You want to leave some of the emotional space for the audience to feel something."
